I’m Sophie and I live in Spain, but I have moved to the UK to study at the University of Sussex. Ever since I was a kid I’ve loved cats and have always wanted one. But my dad and brother are a bit allergic so we never thought about getting one. Since 2 years ago, at my countryside house in Spain a lot of stray cats started to come around our house and since we loved cats we started feeding them. Then we started buying cat beds and boxes to put around the house, buy lots and lots of cat food because there are about 10 cats that come, we would put bowls of water for them outside and some would even come inside our home. 3 of them really loved us, I was always playing with them with strings and toys and feeding them. There were 2 cats who were ill, they had mouth problems so we took them to the vet constantly and gave them the medicine they needed. Because they were strays it was hard to capture them and put them in the cage because they would just run off. But I knew I had to get them into the cage so I just never gave up. On August 22nd one of them sadly died because her mouth was just rotten. So I really want to help as many other cats. The cats belong to the cat protector of the town but she always appreciates our help. We contribute providing money to the protectors and we pay for all the vet bills. We have taken a few cats to the vet to sterilize and others we have tamed them so much that they even sleep in my bed with me. So now, since I’m not in Spain anymore, I really miss all the cats from there and I really wish I could take care of some.
