Cat care experience
Hello! My name is Lucy and I'm a new sitter to Cat in a Flat, looking to help out fellow cat owners who wish to have a reliable and trustworthy person look after their animals. I live in the Little Stoke area and have had a full DBS check as part of my job (this gets renewed every 3 years) as I work for a university. I have a separate DBS certificate for the volunteer work I do with animals and people. I adore cats and have had my own for over 20 years. I have experience with looking after cats of friends and family too, and I enjoy getting to know all their different personalities. Finding out their likes and dislikes and funny little ways is such a joy, and watching cats (and any animals) making their decisions and going about their business fascinates me. As I have my own cats, I know how important it is to have someone you can trust to care for them whilst you're away from home. I pride myself on being very sensitive to their behaviour and picking up on subtle signs. I'm also a big fan of Jackson Galaxy (cat behaviour guru), and I'm studying James French's Trust Technique. I'm an advocate of non-domination teaching and interaction with animals, and care for all animals with complete sensitivity and respect. I work well with shy or nervous animals, usually gaining their trust in a short period of time. I've also gained a certificate in Animal Behaviour, as ethology is of great interest to me. I specialise in caring for Bengal cats, since I have one myself and have cared for several others in the past, so I know the type of care they need (usually lots of playing and interaction, and I know how noisy and demanding they can be!) I also have a Persian cat, so know how cheeky they can be too! But I also have had domestic short hair cats and they're all wonderful to me.
