About Me

Cat sitter in Cambridge

I was brought up in a family of animal lovers, with my mother taking me to feed strays at 2 years old, and have grown up with cats for my entire life. My family and I currently have 2 cats, both of whom were rescued from the bushes. Eventually my mom convinced my dad to catch the kittens her and I had been feeding outside a shopping centre in South Africa (where my family and I are originally from). The 2 kittens, Merlin and Cleo, were initially very skittish but through the love and care of my family they grew to be 2 very loving cats.

My family and I then moved with our cats to the Bahamas. For a while we lived in a gated community, which had a numerous strays living in the bushes. When one of the local strays gave birth my family and I worked together with out neighbours to capture them. We then took care of them ourselves and found them a home rather than giving them to the already overburdened humane society. I was too young to volunteer at the humane society, however I always enjoyed spending a bit of time in the cat room when my parents were fetching my sister, who did volunteer there. One morning when my dad was driving my sister to her work experience a tiny kitten tumbled into the road. Ting, as we called her, was younger than Merlin and Cleo when we first rescued them. We took care of her and slowly she recovered from the fragile state she was found in, and she grew to be a very active cat with a unique personality.

We then moved from the Bahamas to the UK. Being older, I have often ended up feeding our cats either because I woke up first or my mom was away, and I help keep our cats calm when taking them to the vet or giving them medication. My parents have always said I have a gift with animals, managing to gain the trust of timid or aggressive pets quicker than most. My sister discovered Cat in a Flat and suggested I also make a profile after taking me with her to see one of the cats she was sitting.

My family currently has 2 cats. Cleo, our South African cat is quite old now and fairly deaf yet extremely talkative, practically shouting whenever she wants something and purrs like a lawnmower when being stroked. She is comfortable with being held and is less active due to her age. Ting, our Bahamian cat is young and spritely and still very small despite being fully grown. Less talkative than Cleo yet just as loud when she does meow, Ting spends most of her day out in the garden before coming in a settling on a comfy lap in the evening. Cleo's brother Merlin (who is my profile picture) was a lovely cat who's calm and affectionate nature made an impression on everyone he met. Sadly, he passed away due to HCM. I always love meeting new cats, gaining their trust and getting to know their personalities and would be delighted to care for yours.

Got home late on Saturday to two cats who obviously would have much preferred it was Matthew than me even after I fed them.

Matthew coped really well with a bite on Dolly's back hopefully not done by Billy her brother.

Came back to not only two very happy cats but to a clean and sweet smelling Conservatory.

So all in all very well done Matthew and look forward to booking you again as do Dolly and Billy.
