Animal Loving Archivist

Originally from Scotland, I moved to London after 15 years or so of international travels. I'm now an Archivist who works part-time for a human rights organisation and since 2018 have been petsitting in parallel. I've built up more than 30 x 5-star reviews on another housesitting site.

I reckon that a good cat-sitter shares many qualities with a good Archivist - which I like to think I am. Both are responsible, reliable, organised, contemplative, resourceful and empathetic.

I lived and worked overseas for more than 15 years (India, Japan, South Korea, China, Australia). It was a rich and interesting life but had the downside that I was never in a position to 'have' a pet myself, although I was usually surrounded by them. For several years I lived in communities in India in which dogs and other animals were at the heart. I was very involved with their care and welfare, grooming, bathing, making sure they got the medical attention they needed. I even assisted a visiting pets programme which neutered street dogs.

Having moved permanently back to the UK, I started cat-sitting on another website while spending time in London on short-term contracts. I found that being with animals was an enormous comfort during my transition to London, with the added bonus of knowing that it helps owners enjoy their time away from home, and helps to reduce any stress our feline friends may feel in their absence.

I'm currently not with any pets and I'm missing them so much!
