About Me

Cat sitter in Redruth

Hi there! Glad to see you're interested. Please read on to know a bit about me and whether you consider me right for your cat! There are small headers so you can know as much or as little about me as possible as easily as possible (no need to read an essay if you don't want to ;) )!

--About Me--

My name's Oliver and I have a passion for animals, especially cats (hence why I'm on here!). I am currently awaiting to be a University student, studying archaeology, and leave this September. I adore cats of all kinds and personalities and have never met two similar cats, they all have their quirks and own lives which makes looking after them part of the fun!

I have many interests such as reading and travelling, but my primary interests are animals and history and whilst I've chosen to pursue history as a professional career, I still intend to work with animals either as voluntary work or indeed paid work such as this. I have high functioning autism (Asperger's Syndrome) which means (for me at least) I connect easily with animals over humans and am very caring, kind and focused when looking after them. Whilst autism of my kind has its disadvantages, my ability to look after animals is in quite the opposite category!

--Experience--

My family have had cats (and other animals) since I was born and when I grew older I was caring for them more and more, I have also looked after my grandmother's cat who was on medication after she went into a nursing home and he lived a happy life for a further 3 years before he died (at age 17!).

I now have my own cat (Cleo), who I absolutely adore and I am well versed in communing with her and understanding what she wants, as well as ensuring she takes her own medicine and gets enough exercise (she's a lazy cat). She was a rescue cat (and was abused) so when I got her she was extremely shy, it took about 2 years of patience to get her to trust me and come out of her shell a bit. Now, 5 years on, she's as happy, active and sociable as any cat. These two experiences, in particular, prove I have experience with cats requiring pills/medication and cats of a more nervous disposition, such as rescue cats.

Furthermore, I have done work experience and volunteer placements at Duchy College's Animal Department, Feadon Farm and the Cornish Bird's of Prey and Animals Centre, showing that I have plenty of experience with all kinds of animals and thus can handle pretty much any cat regardless of disposition and difficulty.

--Why I'm doing this--

I'm doing this kind of work because I'm in need of extra money and the idea of looking after cats, whilst being paid to do so, is essentially a dream job! I am also aware, first hand, of how much of a pain it is if you want or need to go somewhere (holiday, wedding, work commitments) and have either a very sociable cat who wants/needs attention constantly, or a shy cat who's mostly fine on their own but needs someone to check up on them and provide the necessary cat upkeep (food, water, litter tray etc). As such, it seems like a great market to get into, as I'm not only getting paid for something I enjoy doing but I am also helping both cats and cat owners.

--Availability--

As I'm going to university I'm only available until the 10th of September at the latest, in a 5KM radius around Illogan (which covers places such as Pool, Camborne, Redruth, Portreath and Porthtowan). That said, I'm available whenever is good for you/your cat (if specific times are required) which includes Nights!

--Final Word--

So, I hope I sound like a good match for you and your cat's/s' needs. If you need any more information about me I have linked my Facebook Profile.

I hope, regardless of whether you choose me or not, that this site fulfills all your catsitting needs :)

Thanks,

--Oliver
