Wild and furry - West Dorset cat sitter

Dear Cat Owners,

My name is Ursula. I am 29 years old, and currently live in rural Dorset with my parents. As a family, we have owned four cats, among a number of other pets (one rabbit, many guinea pigs, and currently a 13 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Rolo) for over 12 years. I have grown up loving and caring for pets, to the point that I cannot imagine any kind of life without them.

I'm a postgraduate university student, and have completed a undergraduate degree in American Studies and History Combined in Canterbury, and a Master’s degree in Archaeology in the Netherlands. I enjoy reading historical novels and biographies, and I love going to the cinema to watch films on social history and sci-fi/super heroes. Most of all, I love walking my dog in the countryside. I have grown up loving being in a rural environment, and although I enjoy being in towns and cities, the ability to walk on a beach or through a semi-muddy field really fills me with a sense of peace.

As a general rule, I consider all the pets I have had (and currently have) as my close family. I do not have any siblings, so every time I came home from school or university meeting my pets was like a kind of reunion. I have many fond memories of my cats, as they have all sadly passed on. But I have had experience recently of house and cat sitting for friends nearby as well as in London, so I have not gone a long time without understanding how to care for cats. I do have a full driving licence and own a car, and access to rail networks is relatively easy for me, so I can very easily travel to other parts of the country if I am required to.

I have experience in administering certain medication such as tablets and liquid injections either into food or the mouth, but I do not have the training to give injections through an animal’s skin. Furthermore, if your pet requires a certain dietary routine, I am more than comfortable to carefully follow any diet to ensure the cat’s health. I will happily spend hours playing with a cat, and I can also groom it if that is required.
