About Me
A cat-hartic cat sitter based near Queen's Park
Hi there :)
I'm Réka, an aspiring art historian currently working in exhibition management at a gallery in London. I was born and raised in Hungary, hence the unusual name.
I fell in love with cats in my early childhood, when I spent the summers with my grandma, who always had about a dozen kitties. With cats, we understand each other on a deep emotional level, as we share major characteristics: we are both independent and introverted, love fish and long afternoon naps.
I have three years of experience with both cat and dog sitting. Since I registered on this site, I've had the chance to look after more than 15 lovely cats in the neighbourhood for both pop-ins and longer periods. As a teen/young adult, I had pets of various kinds (think everything in between fish and hamsters) that I took great care of. I'm eager to learn and can easily adapt to new pets and environments.
UPDATE: I have been blessed with a furry presence at home, in the shape of a cat called Minna. To tend to her luxurious needs, I had to reduce my catchment area and I cannot do overnight cat sitting anymore. All income from cat sitting will be spent on enriching the life of my lovely companion.
Since I moved to London in late 2019, I've been trying to be part of the community here (despite the pandemic). I have been volunteering for an app to reduce food waste and distribute it to those in need, and used to walk my neighbour's dog in my spare time. I like to help out wherever I can and would love to learn more from and about pets. My greatest achievement so far is domesticating a local squirrel.
Usually, I start with a meet and greet with the owners and cat(s) involved to see how we get on and get a sense of the kitty's personality. I have experience with daily visits including replenishing the bowls, giving treats, caressing and playing with the pets, and supervising them in enclosed outdoor spaces (catio). If the cat is used to it I can consider taking them for a walk on a lead. I have experience administering medication (both solid and liquid oral meds) and taking cats to Vet check-ups or vaccinations. May it be a one-off visit or a regular check, you can count on me being punctual and giving my best. If you show me what I should do, I can probably manage anything :)
