About Me
Cat Sitting by Lydia: Bath Kitty Care 😸
Hello! I am a professional living in Bath. I have a cat-sitting Instagram page, feel free to check it out and give it a follow: catsittingbylydia
Please kindly include your postcode or street name in your enquiry - as I always need to check logistics before confirming if I can look after your kitty - or kitties!
Throughout the years I've been "laughed at" by people for being a "crazy cat lady" or rather "a big cat" - I own a lot of cat-featured stuff and my eyes light up when I hear someone mention cats or spot a wandering feline friend. Cats have been a huge and inseparable part of my life. Currently, I have a stable group of repeating cat customers and a growing number of new kitty friends. I also have quite a few cat buddies that I see frequently in the neighbourhood ;)
I started professionally taking care of cats when I was in university. For two years, I frequently looked after Sochu, who was 11 years old and suffering from pancreatitis. I rescued my cat Fizzy when he was only one month old; I raised him from kitten to cat, for a year by myself, and now he is a healthy 9-year-old living happily with my expert parents (whom I coached - they had no previous knowledge of cats whatsoever!). I was also volunteering as a Cat Cuddler at the Bath Cats and Dogs Home when I was a student here.
With my constant studying of cat behaviourism and learning from different kitty clients, I now have experience with cats of various personalities, ages, and medical conditions. I'm also familiar with the use of medication (both pills and syringe/ liquid medication), other than injection. I have experience with hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, fish, doves and chickens as well, so I am up for the job if this is needed.
I am responsible and trustworthy, and I always remain respectful and friendly towards our furry friends. I understand cats have different characters and behave differently, at different ages - or even at different times of the day, so I always pay close attention to their body language and their meows.
When I first meet a cat, I always greet them, give them slow blinks (eye kisses), and then sit with them for a few minutes for them to get used to my smell and existence, and to show that I'm there to show love and support. I will also start giving them gentle pets once they have sniffed my hand and shown no objections, or they have headbutted my hand (it's the cat's way of giving approval, in my opinion!). So by observing and spending that little extra time trying to gain their trust, I get to know when to play with them, when to feed them or give them treats, when to give them pets and cuddles, and when to give them space and let them relax.
I am a dedicated cat photographer, so expect abundant quality photo/ video updates!
I am experienced with all "kitty chores", so you'll expect me to feed and give them treats, clean litter boxes, administer medication if needed, and give them the amount of attention they like - and you will expect only customised, character-tailored activities :D
If you would like me to give your kitty extra attention and stay overnight, I will also make sure your home is safe and kept tidy. I would always strive to fulfill your requests, so just let me know!
