About Me
Cat sitter in Wakefield
Hi!
I'm a cat mum to two very different kitties. My first kitty is called Simba (original I know!) We found him crying outside my mum's flat in Leeds, put flyers up, had him scanned at the vets, spoke to neighbours, and still nothing. That was just before Christmas in 2018. Me and my partner were waiting for our house to be finished, and in March 2019 Simba completed our household. Simba is a Mackerel Tabby Cat with a white belly, gingery brown stripes and bright green eyes. We called him Simba because of his really pronounced stripes- my mum wanted to call him Tigger, so Simba was a compromise!
We adopted our second cat, Tibs, in January 2020 from Cats Protection in Leeds, just before lockdown. Simba is a very sociable cat so we thought he would love a companion. She's older than Simba but smaller, and is a very shy gingery little girl. It took A LOT of time to get to know each other, but they're now absolutely inseparable. She's a true lap cat and incredibly needy. We have considered a third cat but we don't want to risk the wonderful set up we have now. I've put their pictures in my client folder so you can see them.
We now live in Kinsley, in between Wakefield and Pontefract in our own house. I am a PhD candidate at Nottingham Trent University (I'm 27), which means I work from home mostly. I only have to go onto campus occasionally, to run experiments or meet my supervisors in person. This means I have lots of spare time and use that to look after some awesome cats. I also have my own car so travelling isn't an issue.
I'd never had a cat before Simba, so it's been a steep learning curve but honestly I couldn't imagine life without him. Tibs has made a wonderful addition and I'm now fully converted to cats! They make our house a home, and we've been through everything with them; medication, rough introductions, trying to keep them indoors but them having other ideas, trying to keep their collar on, spraying, litter training, everything. I understand how important your cat is to you and how particular they can be! No cat is too fussy or particular, I honestly understand!
I have been police checked (DBS) in my previous job as a support worker so you have peace of mind.
I'm happy to do all areas of normal cat care as long as you tell me before hand. I don't mind hiding pills or liquid in food but I wouldn't feel comfortable with injections, and given my experiences with Simba, wouldn't feel comfortable administering liquid straight into the mouth. I'm absolutely fine with changing litters, picky eaters, or taking time to let your cat get to know me. I'm very happy to give dreamies and snuggles, but also appreciate when your cat is on a little diet or has dietary requirements.
I'm very flexible with my availability, so I don't mind meeting you quickly before a last minute trip or to work around your schedule. I'm happy to keep in contact any way you like, text, call, whatsapp, or facebook. I'm also very happy to send videos and photos of your cat to keep you updated.
