About Me
Willing to spend time with your cat
I live with my husband, we are both retired and have 4 grown up children and 6 grandchildren. I have always had animals around me, we grew up with a dog and my husband had a cat when we first met.
We got 2 kittens when the children started asking for a pet and from that point (1997) I have had one or two cats living with me continuously apart from a break for a few years when my beloved ginger puss was put to sleep in 2017. As my daughter was getting married in Norwich the following year, I wasn’t looking to get another cat until at least after that. In June 2022 I finally got my much longed for rescue cat. I wanted a cat who really needed a home, an adult who wouldn’t be inundated with offers, but as I’d been looking after elderly cats for so long, I wanted a younger cat I’d have more time with.
To this end, I adopted Kirby from Cat Protection, a 5 year old female black and white moggie. She had come from a loving home but her owner had died and under the Cat Guardianship scheme, was being rehomed. It’s been a match made in heaven and though initially shy, she’s been everything I wanted in a cat and has thoroughly settled in.
One of the most enjoyable benefits of being a Catinaflat sitter is meeting people who love their animals and seeing cats who are all loved and receiving a high standard of care, not something I’d necessarily find by volunteering in a rescue shelter.
All my own cats were doted on and thoroughly spoiled! I promise that all your furry friends will be given reliable and loving care, along with companionship and a true understanding of their needs.
I’ve had to restrict my sitting to local area rather than anywhere, as I don’t have my own transport. This will hopefully change at some point. I’ve not been working due to rheumatoid arthritis for some time and now having retired, so I have plenty of time during the day to cat sit.
As a cat sitter, I like to think I go that extra mile, because I love cats and I don’t regard looking after them as a chore, more a privilege. I always think how I’ve wanted my cat to be looked after when I’ve used the service as an owner and try to do the same as a sitter.
I would do more than just pop in and out. For a start, I would spend time with the cat and I’m perfectly happy to stay the night if this makes the owner happier. There’s nothing nicer than a cat curling up on a sleeping bag next to you ❤️.
