About Me
Experienced with special need cats
I'm a 25-year-old working in Customer Services in Bournemouth. I'm French and arrived in the area in October 2019. I have grown up with cats and from the age of 15, took on completely the medical care of my cat who suffered from a kidney disease. I have had a cat after this, a rescue that arrived in my care at 8 weeks, but grew attached to my mum and I left her in France. At the moment, I have two fur companions, Eugene and Keats, that you can find in my clients section. From taking care of my kidney-challenged cat, Miram, I have learned to never overlook change in behaviour and to understand better the care of a cat with special needs. Cats are individuals just like us and they all have their personality, quirks and habits, and we have to adapt to them as much as they adapt to us. I am also aware of the special needs of kittens. I don't have a certification but know how to administer cat first help and CPR as Miram, my cat who was sick, unfortunately went into coma due to kidney malfunction multiple times, so I needed to learn how to react quickly as to maximize his chances of surviving and avoid long term consequences. Miram sadly passed away at 10, but I brought him all the love and patience I could.
Every cat is different and so what I can do for you will change depending on your cat(s) and your needs.
I can obviously cover the basics of food, play time, cuddles, supervised garden time if you want.
If your cat has an ongoing treatment or condition and require special care, I can administer meds, apply creams, bath your cat if they are used to it and require it (my cat had a calming shampoo to be applied every two days as he was overgrooming because of stress, this is not the most pleasant thing to do as they tend to panic, bite and scratch, but it can be necessary in some cases, when recommended by a vet.) Only thing is that I have a phobia of needles and I would not be able to administer care related to this.
I can try to reinforce some behaviours following your instructions.
We can honestly discuss anything you would like me to do.
Before sitting for you, I would like to know a bit more information about your cat, especially : - what care does your cat(s) require ? - does your cat have specific habits that are normal and should not worry me ? - is there any behaviour that you are trying to encourage/stop in your cat, so that I can help you towards this. - is there any rules in place ? For example, your cat not being allowed on the kitchen countertops.
Also, before sitting for you, I would like your authorization to bring your animal to the vet on my own in case of emergency and me not being able to contact you.
