About Me
Competent Cat Enthusiast - Including Medical Needs
I’m a 39 year old female living in Poplar with my ginger moggy Millsey who I’ve had for coming up 10 years.
I’m a New Zealander who grew up rurally and always had pet cats. My family also fostered kittens and pregnant cats for the RSPCA until the kittens are 12 weeks old and can be rehomed. It’s safe to say I have vast experience with cats from birth to old age, managing an array of personalities, physical and mental ailments along the way.
My current cat Millsey showed up on my doorstep one day and wouldn’t leave, he had no microchip and henceforth he became my first official cat, who I was entirely responsible for. The bond him and I have is what sparked my true love of cats and how to relate to them.
Millsey was diagnosed as diabetic in May 2021 and it was a steep learning curve and period of adjustment for both of us. His care involved a strict feeding plan and insulin injections twice a day, at the same time every day. I joined Cat in a Flat to find someone I trust to help care for him if I need to be away for the night or a weekend. Then I thought my experience managing his diabetes might also serve someone else who’s cat suffers health complications. I’m proficient at administering both injections and pills. I can test blood glucose, administer subcutaneous fluids during end stage kidney disease and always handle with confidence and care.
I'm happy to say a year on from his diagnosis, Millsey went into remission from diabetes. At 11 years old he is bursting with energy and health.
Whether your cat is a healthy young spring chicken or mature with health concerns, I’d love to meet them and potentially be able to care for them.
