About Me
Heather's Walkies and Pet Sitting services Professional, Ethical and Personal.
I aim to provide the best experience for your pets by putting them at the centre of all that I do.
I understand that pets are part of the family, and you can rest easy knowing that I will treat your loved pet as I would my own, giving them lots of attention and a high standard of care. I have pet first aid training, covering all animals, including small mammals, birds, fish and reptiles, and animal specific first aid certificates for Dogs and Cats.
I have had pets all my life, and my first dog as a tenth birthday present (a beautiful rescue Yorkshire Terrier who loved to jump). I have a soft spot for rescue cats, and often rehome ferals from a local charity. My extensive experience means that I can read cat's body language, and can also make an acceptable purring noise, recognisable to cats! This is especially useful for reassuring those nervous kitties.
At home I have 3 rescue moggies who come in and out as they please; 2 feral cats who live at the bottom of the garden (one who likes cuddles, and one who doesn't); and one nervous kitty who lives under my bed, and comes out at nighttime for cuddles. We also have tropical fish, and rescue hens.
I hold a current, enhanced DBS (formerly CRB) certificate, so you can be confident that your pets and house is safe with me.
Looking after your pets in their own home when you're away means less stress for your animal as they are surrounded by familiar smells and sights. I come directly to your home, so no need to pay extra for an extra night at catteries, or for taxi services.
Each visit lasts a minimum of 20 minutes, which gives plenty of time to sort out feeding and cleaning, and still have plenty of time for cuddles. Even if your cat is nervous around strangers, the presence of a person in the house means that they won't have to get used to you again when you return.
Other animals: I can do bedding changes/mucking out for animals including birds, rabbits, rodents and hens. For fish, I can do water testing, and water changes if you are away for a while - just let me know how long your usual cycle is.
Looking after your property: I can park on your drive if you wish to make your property look lived in, and do extra services such as drawing curtains, watering plants and sorting bins. This gives you peace of mind, so that you can relax and enjoy your holiday.
I take lots of photos each visit, which are uploaded onto a secure online Client Portal for you to view whilst you are on holiday. I always message photos at the beginning and end of the holiday too, and can message more frequently if you require.
