cat sitter?
About Me
'The Cat Lady'
Gosh - brrhhh .... it's been arctic outside this past week or so, so I don't blame the felines who decide they'd prefer to stay inside near a fire or radiator! Unusually for me, I had Christmas and New Year off but am back in action now if you need me.
As always, it's a good idea to book well in advance to be sure of cat-care but I always try to accommodate urgent or last-minute bookings if I can. Life can be unpredictable and I like to be as flexible as possible.
I love cats and it's an honour and a pleasure to look after them - they are very perceptive and intelligent creatures but they tend to show this in a different way to dogs. That's why they come over as a bit mysterious at times and don't follow our human logic - this just makes them more entertaining, naturally!
The important things for me as a cat-sitter are that your felines feel secure, comfortable and are well looked after in terms of food, water, play and affection. But there is also the added element of making sure that your home is secure too and that is always a priority for me.
What helps our cats is to have a feeling of normality, (or as near as possible) when their usual 'staff' are away. By having the tv on, preparing their food, washing up their dishes and chatting back and forth while I'm there, it helps most cats relax and realise they are safe and looked after, If you need plants watered, milk brought in etc, I can do that for you too.
I try to send a video of each visit so you can see how your feline/felines are doing throughout the day and people find this very reassuring. However, you can let me know how often you want these so you won't be bombarded all the time if you don't want to be!
The most important part of my job is taking care of all a cat's needs - from the practical to the mental and emotional. I have had so many cats of my own that it has been an invaluable experience in helping me understand their different personalities and needs. I can be attentive, affectionate and 'present' when a cat seems to want these things but can also understand when it wants to be left in peace and quiet. For that reason, also, I behave very casually when I meet them for the first time as I know they don't like to be 'pounced' on by strangers. This helps them to relax and see me as something of interest rather than an intrusion, lol!
What I aim for is a calm and relaxed cat or cats for you to come back to and I know that some are more nervous than others - but I will do my best to allow them to feel safe and well looked after. See you soon if you need me! xx
