About Me
Manchester Animal Enthusiast
Hello, I'm El!
Please note if you have any other animals other than cats, I can look after them too! I'm 26 years old and I've grown up with cats (had them all my life), and a range of other animals. I have an extended diploma in animal management therefore I am able to administer basic medication effectively. I am currently a student at university study on wildlife conservation. I feel well equipped when it comes to cat health and vital signs, your cat is safe in my care! I also have ambitions to work in animal conservation abroad, I have worked in a beautiful rescue sanctuary in Thailand for wild animals and dream of one day having my own. Big cats are one of my favourite animal groups. Initially I had dreams of becoming a forensic psychologist but I quit my a levels with the inevitable realisation that animals are better than people hehe.
We're a little bit of a crazy cat family in my area, I am currently the proud owner of 4 beautiful cats. Macy was purchased by my brother as a present when I was 1, she has lived with us ever since and is the dominant queen of the household, she is nearly as old as me and has exceeded her life expectancy with years to come! She is a spring chicken, is well looked after and is a much loved pet of the family. (Update Macy Lee 2000-2020 RIP baby)
Jaffa was taken in by me as a stray, I estimate that he is around 8 years old and he has the sweetest nature ever! My friends refer to him as my 'spirit animal', he is calm and assertive and sleeps across my neck every night under the covers (he's my absolute world). We have reason to believe that he has suffered some form of head trauma at some point in his life, he is very hesitent when making decisions, whether it's eating or lying down and he has been known to fall off the fence and can sometimes wobble a little when he walks but this makes him my precious little baby. He has made me appreciate cats all that much more, I appreciate each and every personality and individual beauty as I would have never considered taking in a stray beforehand. He has well and truly touched my heart and as of now I feel emotionally obliged to give any cat the love and affection they deserve.
Ibuki is the omega of the group and is the second addition to the family, is is currently 7 years old and is a real mummy's girl (honestly, she adores my mum!), we call her bag puss for her podgy belly. People have difficultly understanding her, with traits of anxiety she just needs a little patience because her temper can be short with the wrong person. However, I have trained her to give both paws and sit on command in return for a treat!
Finally, Pepper is a half Bengal half Maine coon and is the little brat of the bunch. He is the newest addition to the family (ex boyfriend's parents could no longer keep him due to inappropriate surroundings roads etc), he has just turned 3 so is still the baby. It was hard for him to interact with other cats having spent the first 9 months of his life as an indoor only cat, he has been overly mothered and and was considerably socially unaware when it comes in communication with other cats haha! It took time and effort but he has now settled and is harmonious around everyone and other cats! He initially was a bit too boisterous and displayed signs of playful aggression due to lack of stimulation in his previous home, moving him was the best decision as he can now release all that bottled up energy. He regularly disappears and ventures out throughout the day in the surrounding forests near my house.
More about me, I have struggled with anxiety throughout my life and cats are such peaceful and agile animals, I could sit, watch and play with them all day and feel the stress melt away. Cats feel very comforted around me, I have been known to approach aggressive or nervous kitties and they have taken a liking to me due to my patient nature and the fact that they can sense the level of understanding. I am able to determine body language very easily and focus on responding in an appropriate manner in order to reassure the cat.
I'm very good at understanding animal moods and reading their body language therefore I can adapt to all animals. Cats are animals to be respected, I love cuddles but if your cat isn't happy with being cuddled I will make sure they are socialised through play and feel secure.
