About Me
Considerate care from a lifelong cat lover
Hi there, I'm Darri. I'm a lifelong cat lover with lots of experience looking after cats since I was a young lad.
My first cat was Fluffy, a little sweetheart who would often sleep on my bed, always nestling at my feet so that I’d have to be careful in the night not to disturb her. These days I'm not able to have a cat at home as both my partner and child have cat allergies, but very much enjoy looking after friends' and neighbours' cats (and other pets) whenever they need a hand, making sure they get the care and company they need.
I've lived in Edinburgh for roughly 25 years, in Polwarth for about 10 of those, and work as a designer and programmer for a small tech company. Outside of work I'm a bit of a cinephile, love to jog & keep fit, and am learning kung-fu to keep the mind and body in perfect harmony : )
It’s important when you’re away that the person looking after your pet can be trusted to do an excellent job, be kind and gentle, and be respectful of your home. I’m a careful and conscientious person when it comes to looking after animals, always making sure to take into account their individual needs and character. Every cat has a unique personality so I try to be as gentle as possible when getting to know them, letting them set their own pace and find their own level of comfort. Some are friendly, some are more stand-offish, some love to play, some just want some some grub and a quick scratch! Either way I’ll be a considerate carer for your beloved pet.
If you want to get in touch then I’d be happy to chat, discuss a personal care plan and any medical issues that need to be considered, your cat's preferred routine, and direction from yourself on keeping your home secure. Once booking is confirmed, I’ll make one or two visits a day, spend quality time with your cat, and send photos/video to keep you updated so you don’t miss them too much.
I provide an eco-friendly service, getting around by bike or walking, which does mean I’m limited geographically to where I can reasonably cycle, so roughly a mile or two around Polwarth, please just ask if unsure.
