About Me
Experienced Cat Sitter
I've grown up with cats my entire life and currently have three fur babies that I adore. I have even worked in a Cat Cafe in Islington, that is the home to 10 very much loved Cats :-)
I totally understand how important it is to have a cat sitter who cares about your cats as much as you do. To me, they aren't just pets or animals they are part of your family.
I have cancelled holidays in the past when I've not had someone I trust to look after my cats. I totally appreciate how stressful it can be leaving them behind..
I will usually come to visit you before you leave, so that you can show me where your cat/s food and any litter or medicine is kept, and most importantly to meet the Cat of course.
I will usually follow the cat’s lead in terms of what they require.. so for example some cats, don’t want any attention at all and some will even exit when I arrive, and that’s fine. I will usually sit quietly on the floor, and let them just get to know me at their own pace. I do not pick them up or chase them or force affection at all. I find that cats realise as soon as you bring out the suite case, that something is amiss and they’re already suspicious.. I will let them smell first and just be patient, eventually they understand I’m ok and they’ll come to be friendly. I’d recommend leaving their favourite foods and treats so that they build positive associations with my visits, they know I’ve come to give them something they really like.
If you don’t have a CatFlap, but the cat goes outside, I won’t usually let them out unless you tell me specifically to do so OR unless the cat has got to know me well and I’ve built up some trust and I feel they’ll definitely come back in when called.
Lots of cats will initially want to say hi, then signal they want food, and then they’ll go off and let me know I’ve done my job and I should go. Some visits are short and some visits may be longer if a cat does want lots of cuddles or lap time, but I won’t force a cat to have me there for a long time if they don’t appear to be happy.
I am not in any way vet trained but I do have a pet first aid certificate and have administered insulin to a cat with diabetes previously. I have also given many many tablets of medication to my feisty male Burmese.
I have also delivered litters of kittens and regularity administered flee treatments, eye drops etc. I can also cut claws if that's helpful.
I can also do things like, turn lights on & off, open and close curtains, water plants, pop milk in the fridge for when you get back if required.
