Need an
awesome
cat sitter?
About Me
Cat-sitting in Durham (Merryoaks, Langley Moor, Nevilles Cross, Crossgate, City Centre, North End, Claypath and University areas)
Hi!
My name is Drew and I'd love to be your cat sitter! I am a mathematician (doing postdoctoral research) and a cat-dad to a boy named Charlie (featured in my profile picture).
Charlie is a wonderfully affectionate (...and demanding) cat whom I love immensely. I've had him for three years so far, and I must admit, I do perhaps spoil him a bit... In addition to my time with Charlie, my sister has also owned a cat (called Chase) for 12 years, whom I have frequently played with.
I have always loved looking after cats, and I would be delighted to help look after yours!
If you decide to hire me as a cat-sitter, I will be happy to make a free initial visit to collect keys, meet your cat(s), and discuss any special requirements/tasks that you'd like me to perform whilst you're away. In particular, I will ask for the following:
- Roughly what time(s) in the day you'd like me to visit.
- The location of the litter tray and accompanying scoop, along with the disposal procedures for any 'deposits' (e.g. if there is a specific bin to use, or specific bags to contain the waste).
- The type of cat litter you use (clumping or non-clumping).
- The location of food/treats and how much your cat(s) have per day.
- The location of the water bowl.
- The location of any toys they have (and if they have a particular favourite toy).
- The location of any relevant cleaning products (should there be any cat food spillage, vomit or other mess).
- Any medical conditions and medication your cat(s) require.
- Any favourite spots/hiding spaces they have.
- Whether they are indoor or outdoor cats.
- Any other habits they have that you would like me to know about.
- Contact numbers in case of an emergency.
As well as the usual (feeding your cat, playing with them, giving them strokes and attention, checking the litter tray etc), I can also groom them (if you have a brush for them) and clean their teeth (if this is something that you already do and they are receptive to this --- Charlie weirdly loves it...)
In addition to looking after your cat, I can provide additional services whilst you are away, such as:
- Taking out the bins for collection (please let me know which bins on which days if you'd like this to be done).
- Watering any house plants.
- Vacuuming/sweeping up fur build-ups.
Visits last for approximately 30 minutes, though I will stay longer if time requires it --- I'll always prioritise ensuring that your cat's needs are met above any time limits.
Unfortunately I do not have a car, so I can only cat-sit locally to the City of Durham --- the closer to the Merryoaks area, the better.
