Enthusiastic 'cat-whisperer' seeking work in Cambridge!

Hello there!

My name is Sophie Ruh and I'm a writer based in Cambridge.

My pet-care experience is rooted in the 16 years and 3 months in which I cherished my three-legged cat, Artie. On top of having a leg amputated as a kitten, he went on to have most of his teeth removed, a hyperactive thyroid, and to suffer from arthritis in old age. Despite his eventual smelliness, he loved life and I loved helping him live the life he deserved. Despite him no longer being with us, I still love him.

As well as his smelly majesty, I've met, looked after, and enjoyed the company of many cats throughout my neighbourhood and in my family. I enjoy learning more about cat behaviour, which leads me to pick up knowledge on cat care through books and videos (e.g., Jackson Galaxy; Kittenlady). My appreciation for each cat's personality comes through in my respect for their need for attention/personal space. I have to admit though, I do like giving them attention. When all else fails, cats are good for the soul. I know you agree.

The crux of it is this: I am a cat-less writer and therefore have much time on my hands, as well as much experience with cats - including with medication and a range of personalities. I would like to look after your cat; perferably developing a long-lasting working relationship with you so we can develop a schedule and I can learn more about your cats' needs.

Since moving to Cambridge, I've had the honour of catsitting a couple of very mischievous young cattos. When I work for them, the gist of the sit is this: I stay over at their house when their owners are away and feed them as their owners would - small meals three times a day. Their owners are then happy that someone is at home to protect the house and give the cats any emergency attention overnight. I keep the house clean, open and close blinds as necessary, and try not to ruin their 'We think you'd like...' on Prime. Both cats love attention, so I move between their favourite rooms in the day so they each have quality time. I've also learned how each likes to play or receive attention and act accordingly. I've also had a few clients from this very website since I've been active! I've been trained in giving insulin injections and cared for cats from the most cuddly to the most cautious. Feel free to check out my reviews to see more :) I'm more than happy to adapt to what you think is best and will not push a diet onto your cats unless you ask me to.

As previously indicated, I'm very competent with administering oral medication and flea-juice, and I can administer subcutaneous injections (into the fatty pad between the cat's shoulder's). However, I am not trained or experienced in administering other injections and definitely not in tube-feeding.

If you have any specific requests, please ask away! I'm more than happy to accommodate you, but may charge a little more at my discretion if I believe it's a task requiring more attention/skill. Alternatively, if you've had an emergency cost or the prices aren't right for your budget, I'm more than happy to negotiate.
