About Me
Tortitude Pet Sitting – Inspired by Love, Run with Care
Hello, I’m Alix, the proud founder of Tortitude Pet Sitting, named in honour of my beautiful rescue cat Elvie, whose bold personality and endless affection truly inspired me to turn my lifelong love of animals into something more.
Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I share my home with two wonderful cats, a cheerful budgie, a curious hamster, and a peaceful community of fish — and every one of them has taught me something new about patience, empathy, and the importance of gentle care.
Before settling here, I spent several years living in Wales, where I was lucky enough to experience the warmth and genuine hospitality the country is known for. That spirit of kindness, community, and going the extra mile has stayed with me ever since — and it’s something I bring into every part of my pet sitting service. I believe in creating a welcoming, trustworthy environment not just for your pets, but for you as well.
I'm fully DBS checked and trained in administering medications and injections to cats, so whether your pet has complex needs or just requires a little extra TLC, you can feel confident that they’re in safe, experienced hands.
When I’m not spending time with my own animals or looking after yours, I work as a manager in a local busy GP surgery and am also a dedicated carer for my autistic wife. My professional background means I’m naturally organised, calm under pressure, and deeply compassionate — qualities that extend to every part of my pet sitting service.
Tortitude Pet Sitting proudly covers Leatherhead, Ashtead, Bookham, Effingham, Cobham and surrounding areas, and I’m always happy to travel a little further if needed. My goal is to provide exceptional, personalised care for every animal I meet. Whether it’s a one-off visit or regular sitting, I take great joy in getting to know your pets, learning their quirks, and making sure they feel completely safe and loved in their own environment.
Spending time with animals — especially other people’s — brings me genuine happiness, and I treat every pet I care for as if they were one of my own. I believe in fantastic service, clear communication, and creating a calm, trusted relationship with both you and your furry (or feathered!) companions.
If you're looking for someone who will love your pets just as much as you do, I’d be honoured to help.
