About Me
Cat sitter in Dunfermline
Hi everyone – I’m Franki, and I work as a Business Manager for the NHS.
I grew up on a farm in the middle of the Welsh countryside and have had cats all my life, starting with Tigger, a big old tabbycat who was great at babysitting, being carried around haphazardly by me as a toddler and coming with us on long walks. Joining Tigger as my siblings and I grew up were Kanga, Roo, Piglet, and (to break the theme) more recently Musky and Ronnie – all with totally different personalities, from ‘intensely-clingy’ Musky to ‘fiercely-independent-just-so-happens-to-be-on-your-lap-but-not-because-I-care’ Ronnie and ‘thinks-she’s-a-dog’ Piglet.
My husband and I now have a very handsome 10-year-old cat named Sir Archibald, who we’ve owned since kittenhood, and who spent his youth roaming the streets in a bow-tie collar, befriending tomcats, breaking into neighbours’ houses, and generally being affectionately known to all as ‘that bloody cat from down the road.’
Archie is possibly the most pampered cat ever – highlights include us buying him a 90L tropical aquarium when we moved house so he had a ‘cat TV’ to watch while we were at work (and trying to encourage him to be an indoor cat, safe from the perils of The Big City), and then building a cat-bridge between our bedroom window and the garden when the aforementioned attempts to keep him happy inside inevitably failed. He now happily spends his time pootling around inside and out, befriending neighbours, sleeping upside-down and of course being a ferocious hunter of all creatures great and small.
We've also added little Athena to our cat tribe, and she is an adorable bundle of naughtiness and joy! Her favourite game in the whole entire world is playing fetch with her Very Own Hair Bobble, and she loves exploring the garden, though is not a big fan of weather unless that weather is sunshine. Archie is tolerating her pretty well after being Number One for so long, and is taking his role of big brother extremely seriously - it melts my heart to see him teach her how to 'cat' although it's not all smooth sailing as I recently interrupted them in the middle of a hunting lesson, when he'd brought a live mouse into the living room for her to catch...
We use Cat in a Flat sitters to care for Archie and Athena when we travel, so I know what it’s like to leave your cat and home in someone else’s hands, and will provide you with plenty of photos and updates! My biggest worry when going away is that they will be sad, lonely and confused, so when visiting your cat/s I’ll take the time to pet, play, and spend time with them to ensure they’re feeling content and safe.
We had quite a menagerie of pets (rabbits, hamsters, tropical fish, budgies, chickens) on the farm so I'm also comfortable taking care of most things with fur or feathers if your extra family member doesnt happen to meow!
I’m able to give medication, and am also happy to water plants, collect mail, feed fish/hamsters etc, open and close blinds, and switch security lights on and off. I'm happy to travel around Dunfermline but I do work on weekdays so visits are likely to be pre-9am and post-5pm, unless of course you’re based close enough for a lunchtime stroll!
