Purrfect Sits

Hi!

My name is Iris, I have lived with cats all my life since taking in our first stray kitten when I was three years old and have been cat-sitting in every capacity for the last 20+ years from drop-in visits to overnight stays and even boarding cats in our home. I usually cat sit locally (Tyne Valley, Newcastle and Gateshead) but have semi regular clients as far afield as Cumbria and even Inverness!

I love cats and kittens and enjoy getting to know them on their terms (all cat owners know that their cat is unique)!

In 2022, I developed Long Covid ME, which has forced me to stop working full time (I was an artist, writer, gardener, and personal assistant). Cat sitting has since become a way that I can work sustainably around my fatigue, whilst also getting to meet lots of lovely new cats and people and making a meaningful contribution to their lives.

I am DBS checked and have a full, clean driving license. If you have any questions or would like more information, please do not hesitate to get in touch!

Because I believe in a cat-centered approach and honor the duty of care to our pets - I never over-book or over-promise: this service is about supporting cats in their own homes or boarding them here, according to their specific wants and needs. I will always make sure your cat gets all the attention they need, whether it's plenty of play, cuddles, or simply sharing some time together. I like to arrange a (free) meet and greet 2-3 days before a sit starts to get to know you and your cat in advance. Throughout the sit I will provide fresh food and water and empty litter trays with every visit, send daily pictures and updates and anything else your feline friend requires. I am confident in administering medicines and treatments from inhalers and tablets to injections. While I look after your cats I am more than happy to do any additional tasks such as watering plants, opening and closing curtains, etc, as needed and happy to take care of any other pets living in your home.
