About Me
"So THAT'S why they call me the cat man!"
I'm Owen (he/they), a games developer in Manchester. I'm disability and LGBTQIA+ friendly.
I have never been without a cat my entire life, I've always had one if not several at a time. I currently have a 16 year old orange cat and she is very chill. The oldest cat I had was Jinx (a present for my 10th birthday), who passed away a few years ago at the age of 22.
I have experience with taking care of newborns (I once had 10 ginger kittens at the same time from birth to 8-10 weeks!), kittens, adults and senior cats (upto in their 20's!). I am also patient and experienced with anxious cats (such as those who are rescued from abusive environments), and disabilities (blind, deaf, and mobility issues).
Once Jinx turned both blind, had mobility issues due to old age, and then started going deaf I would shower her a couple of times a week, groom her daily, and trim her fur when needed. I'm caring for a rescue kitten at the moment who is an estimated 7 weeks old and also needs showering every so often due to getting their waste on themselves fairly often.
One of my most recent cat helpings is a rescued kitten (now around 1 years old), terrified of people (due to abuse), terrified of certain triggers (sliding doors), and he didn't meaw or even move from under the sofa for over a week. He is now absolutely thriving, very chatty, and the most playful thing you'll ever meet. I gave him a nice quiet space, placed food and water under the sofa with him, a litter tray just next to the sofa, and did the usual things like letting him sniff my hand and very light pats until he realised nobody was going to hurt him and he's finally safe. He is still anxious of new people but if he meets you a few times he opens up and tries to introduce himself and play with you.
He now has a rescued little brother, the 7ish week old mentioned above, who was found alone in a bin after being dumped.
I am very happy to be a general and consistent cat sitter for any cats with separation anxiety whiles you are away at work, and to be a daily (or multiple times per day) cat sitter during your holidays and work trips.
My main work ethic per visit would be to play with your cat for an hour or so to tire them out, and/or to groom and comfort them, and to do the services listed below (replenishing food/water, litter tray, etc). I offer daily/per each trip photos, updates, and anything else you require for your pet/pets.
Services offered: Feeding, refreshing water, giving treats, etc. Cleaning litter trays when needed. Playtime (general play, and also encourage exercise/weight loss if needed). Strokes and cuddling any lap cats. Grooming with brushes when needed or requested. Anything else within reason, the only thing I won't be able to do are medicines involving needles (as I am not trained to administer those) but pills should be fine. I can also offer basic non-cat related things such as mild chores if requested (I'm a certified professional cleaner, and I don't mind doing basic cleandowns for extra money per request). I'm also a fan of dogs, it just wasn't an option to tick on the 'Additional Pet Sitting Services' section.
