About Me
Cat-led affection and comfort
I am a gamer, artist, (not very) activist, and general nerd. While I like sustainability, my experience with disability has taught me a lot about compromise within the systems we currently have. Technically, I’ve self-published a very short game and several comic or ‘manga’ pages.
I also train people to use technology. This is supported by my level 3 diploma in Adult Education Training — it was previously called PTLLS, Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector. I had an enhanced DBS check when I last volunteered, and the Update Service has kept checking since then.
We now have 2 kittens! They are very cute. I'd take more photos but one is usually asleep and the other is too fast for film.
I have some disabilities and conditions, so I charge extra days at time and a half, minimum. This is to preserve my energy and pain tolerance (search 'spoon theory', for more detailed descriptions.)
Let me know what you want done and how, and I’ll do it. Unless you ask otherwise, I will: clean and refresh the cat food and water, scoop the poop and tilt it into the bin, and change the litter as often as you request. Daily photos as standard too, if they let me snap a few. I will spend at least an hour in the house, letting each cat get used to me. Once acclimated, we can play using their toys.
I love petting cats and hanging out with them, but only when they want to. My ideal method is to be slow, quiet, slow-blink, and let them sniff my knuckle (to reduce risk of biting). Then I try to back off for them to choose how to approach me, if at all. In practice, I usually get excited and jump to kissy noises immediately.
All cats are beautiful! As a kid, we had an orange Japanese Bobtail and an orange Domestic Shorthair. Since then, I had a blue Devon Rex, and a black Domestic Longhair. (I have pictures of most of them, if you want to see them.) I’m happy to meet nervous cats for free a few times beforehand so they’re not too worried while you’re away. I tend to leave a scarf at the initial visit so they learn my scent.
