Ukrainian Cat Lover with 15 Years of Expurrience

My name is Maria, and I grew up around cats my whole life! My mum and I would always foster kittens we would find on the streets of Kyiv, Ukraine, finding them new families. From a very young age, I learnt to care for all cats, regardless of their size or personality. While we had foster kittens, that were very easygoing and grateful to be rescued, when I was seven, my mum got a big ginger Maine Coon. He was quite a temperamental cat that would turn flowerpots upside down if he was denied a treat, or would try to escape outside into our garden just to sit under a bush and tremble in fear, begging to be rescued. At eighteen, I moved to London for university. Now, I am about to be a Master’s student, specialising in development studies. After having lived in Holborn and Battersea for four years, moving to North London and seeing cats wander around makes my day, and my dream is to look after cats. I got so used to having cats around me, and now, being away from home and not being able to go back to Ukraine as often as I would like, I realise I would love to have the chance to meet and spend time with cats.

Taking care of cats that used to live on the street means also learning how to administer medicine and adapting to the special needs of every cat - be it wiping the eyes every day, giving pills or anything else. Last summer, I looked after a cat twice, and it was the best experience. I am now even more confident I will make your cat happy, well cared for, and well cuddled (if they like it). I love to give cats love and honestly it is my dream to be have a little fluffy cat as company when I'm home!
