FB : Abbie The Cat Nanny. Cat sitter and certified feline behaviour used experienced with additional needed and elderly cats

Hi! I’m Abbie, and I am the self proclaimed cat nanny! I’d like to take the time to provide some background on how ‘ATCN’ came to be, and why I do what I do.

I have been a passionate cat owner and lover for several years now, and I have 4 lovely rescue fur babies of my own.

One of my cats is a rescue from the Chinese meat trade. He was taken on by Candys hound international rescue (who I’ll always be grateful to!) He travelled from China to the UK to join our family in 2024. He was completely blind and missing an eye, and shortly after coming to us, he unfortunately needed his second eye removed due to damage from an illness that was left untreated in China. I had never had experience with a disabled cat before, nevermind a blind one! Several months after taking Odin on, I was on the hunt for a cat sitter myself, and I felt disappointed and frustrated at the lack of willingness from some of the cat sitters I contacted to administer medications, adapt their approach and mannerisms to cater for my blind cat’s needs, but most importantly, I noticed a lack of empathy and willingness to learn about my cat’s disability and requirements.

Luckily, I found a fantastic cat sitter who I’m still lucky to have, but I saw a really big gap in the pet care options available in my area for owners with additional needed cats.

Before I took the plunge and started up my little cat sitting business, I worked hard on achieving my intensive animal first aid and feline behaviour certifications. I have also completed courses in feline dieseperation anxiety and supporting cats through transitions and changes. I pride myself on offering care to any and all owners and their cats, but I do specialise in the more ‘complex’ of needs, wether these needs be due to older age,health or medical needs, or emotional difficulties from past traumas. I strongly believe that all owners and their cats should have access to animal care whatever their requirements, and I like to think I can meet any needs that may be presented to me.

I would feed, play,socialise with and groom your cat/cats if required.i will clean and maintain litter trays and feeding equipment. I am able to administer medication if required, and I am able to adapt my approach and how I would carry out any tasks you require of me to do, for the individual cats comfort,ease and preference. I am able to take your cat/cats to the vets if it was needed. I am happy to sit for more than one cat if you have more than 1.
