Hi, I'm Rachael, a 37-year-old former zookeeper from Colchester Zoo. With a lifelong dedication to animals, I've had the privilege of working with a diverse range of species. At home, I care for a beautiful ragdoll cat named Oscar, two rabbits, a bearded dragon, and marine fish. My deep love for animals and extensive professional experience ensure that your beloved pets will be well-cared for and cherished in your absence.

My career as a zookeeper was immensely fulfilling, and I only left due to the birth of my daughter and the pandemic affecting our crucial support network. With years of experience handling various animals, I am fully equipped to care for your pets (excluding dogs) while you're away.

Currently, I manage two successful ventures. As an award-winning animal artist at Rachael Robinson Art and the owner of Rachael's Pet Sitting Services in Basildon, I am passionate about providing exceptional care for cats, rabbits, fish, small mammals, and birds. I do not offer services for dogs, as I believe they should not be left alone overnight.

For your peace of mind, I am CRB/DBS checked, privately insured, and come highly recommended. You can book my services independently or through CITF. Rest assured, your pets will receive the highest level of care and attention in my capable hands.

My general routine is listed below but can be adapted to your cats current routine.

I usually arrive early in the morning to change their litter/ food and water and a general headcount. This visit is kept short so I can spend more time in the evening. The evening visit begins with general duties performed in the morning and then I will sit with your babies and play/ groom or just sit quietly if they do not wish to be disturbed. Depending on your request, the evening is when you will hear from me unless there is a problem. Go on holiday knowing your pets will be very well looked after.

I am usually quite well booked up so if you know your going away and would like that piece of mind then get in touch as early as possible and I’ll do my best to fit you in.

Those with more than 2 cats at home please note there is an additional charge of £2 per day per extra kitty

Additional pets (excluding cats) are charged as follows Rabbits- £5 per visit per day for 2 bunnies. Including cleaning Fish depending on level of care required are £2 per visit per day. Rodents- £5 per visit per day including cleaning Birds- £8 per visit per day. Reptiles- £7 per visit per day.

Please ensure your rabbit housing is appropriate and safe from predation whilst you are away. I may refuse to take care of them should I feel they are not safe during your holiday.
