Hi I’m Steve. I am an active Cat Fostering volunteer for Battersea Cats and Dogs Home. Alongside my wife, we have done this for the last 10 years. We look after mums and kittens; cats that have needed medical fostering which involves the administering of medicines as well as some physiotherapy and teaching of sign language for deaf kittens; behavioural fostering for timid cats that either are coping badly with the cattery environment or who have not been socialized with strangers. We’ve also had a fantastic experience in hand-rearing kittens from one week old (two of these are shown in my profile). It's never dull and we keep learning. To date we have had around a hundred and fifty different cats come to stay and be cared by us.

Before entrusting your cat(s) to me, I would like to meet him or her and understand what he/she likes and does not and learning their routine. I am adept at reading feline behaviour and seeing the signs of anxiety as well as when a cat is happy.

Before fostering, we had our own cat - Maddy - for 18 years of her life. We were fortunate to have my parents-in-law house-sit (or rather cat-sit) whilst we were on holiday and I know first hand how comforting it is to go away and know that our cat and house are really well taken care of.

I am retired so able to time visits that suit you and your cat(s). I will of course send photos or video (whatever you prefer) and make sure post is out of sight. I would be happy to water plants and draw curtains as well.

    Steve has been great throughout the whole process, easy to liaise with and very reliable. He went above and beyond in caring for our cat and taking care of things like the post. We came back to a very happy and settled cat! We will definitely be asking Steve to cat sit again :)

    Steve recently looked after our cat Moosh, we didn't want to put him in a cattery and I am so pleased we had him look after our cat. Steve was friendly, put us at ease and sent us videos whilst we were away. He really went above & beyond and we came back to a happy cat! We will definately book Steve in the future, thanks again!

    Steve looked after our two boys over the weekend and went above and beyond to make them feel loved and safe; from coming round before we left to understand their routine and what they like, to cleaning the feeders so they are spotless. The daily videos helped reassure us and made us smile. I wouldn't hesitate to book Steve again.

    As always, Steve did a great job, and our cat, JJ was extremely pleased with the cuddle and the food.

    In fact JJ seemed a bit disappointed that we returned at all. If he had his own budget, I think he would completely replace us with Steve!

    As previously, our cat, JJ, was thrilled to be visited and supported by Steve. In fact when he realised that we had returned, JJ was rather disappointed as he seems to have much more fun with Steve than with us. If he ever gets to know Steve's address, I suspect he'll turn up on Steve's doorstep demanding asylum!
