About Me
Sunshine
Hello There Why do I want to do this job? Short answer, I truly just want too, and I am happy and content when working with animals. For many years now I have looked after, owned cats and been involved in the cat community. I am known as the cat lady at work and within the social group. Always feeding stray cats, fostered in the past, attempting to help with cat colonies, aware of the cats in my area (neighbourhood cat watch) and I even have a chip reader. As a cat lady I am up to date with government policy and legislation (for cats) and the current issues regarding funding, charities, and the increasing numbers of cat colonies. Right now, I am only providing accommodation for cats, kittens, and small animals. Due to fostering, my home is already set up with all essential items, stimulating activities, toys, scratching post, cages, comfort/safety (items, section area) many unused cat beds (lol). A cage will only be used in the best interest of the pet, this is a free roaming environment.
Sunshine Pet Sitting Team is a new service that official launch in April 2025. The future aim is to run a pet sitting company when I retire. Why trust me? I am a registered professional who is accountable to a regulating body, that I had worked very hard to achieve and maintain. This including my reputation and the professional relationships I have built over the years. Currently, I have one job within the public sector which is my main and only income (a good income). With the option of earning very well in the private sector if I chose too. To jeopardize the above will not be a wise or even rational. I just love working with animals and the benefits I get in exchange outweighs financial gain. Lastly, for 20 years I regularly competed a CRB form, previously known as DBS.
I have created a hand made jungle gym with help, two quiet warm and dark areas to hid and snooze. There are so many toys and cat beds.
I have many strategic plans, risk assessment and protocols in place to ensure fur babies receive the best care and what to do in an emergency. All care provided is individualised and care plans based on each cat’s needs. In general, I have created an environment that meets all needs (stimulating, safe area, adventurous, physical). A large secure play area available for those whose cats like to run around. L
Experience, Skills and ethics: As a professional it is important to have knowledge and understanding of emotional intelligence, confidentiality, cultural understanding/diversity, nonjudgmental mental, transparency and consent. It is equally important to know how why, how, and when it applies. I have developed the above knowledge and skills from my vast experience from working in a health care setting (public/private, general/mental health, rehabilitation, acute/community). I have care for individuals and worked with family members during their most vulnerable time during sad and happy times in all different environments. Therefore, looking after your family member (fur baby) will be no difference in a healthy happy environment. With emergency and risks plans in place to prevent incidents and steps to take when there is an emergency. These are skills developed over many years that transferable in any setting. My greatest skill is risk assessment and care plans. My environment is continually evolving and developing as I learn how to create more stimulating environments. Importantly homing on my natural skills of apply care, emotion intelligence (when appropriate) and reacting fast in emergencies (every second counts).
