Hello! My name is Kristie, I am a 26 year old living in Surrey and I work as a Communications Officer in Hampton.

I adopted my own cat, Todd, when he was 1 years old through Cats Protection. He was very traumatised - he was rescued as a stray but they thought he must have had a traumatic first year in life as he was very frightened and wouldn't come out of this little box in his foster home.

When I adopted him, there was no guarantee that he would come out of his shell at all and we were warned that he could be this timid for life. He ended up sleeping underneath my bed for 3 months, only coming out for food and water. I was patient because I knew with lots of love and affection (albeit this was from afar for a while!!), I knew there was a cat that just wanted to be loved and know he was safe! And after 5 months of being in a safe and loving home - he completely came out of his shell! Now 7 years later, he is a transformed cat. He loves nothing more to be cuddled, sit on your lap and to sleep next to you all night.

I think this has been one of the defining experiences in my life - it has been amazing to be able to see him grow into the most loving and wonderful cat. He is my little soulmate and I love him very much (if you couldn't tell already!). I share him with my parents as we both like to travel and we always want someone to be there for him. I would love to have more special experiences like this, and look after your pets the way I would want someone to look after mine.
