I’ve recently completed my second year of the Animal Management Level 3 course at Houghall College and am eager to begin a career in the animal care industry. During my time at college, I particularly enjoyed learning about the daily care of companion animals such as cats and dogs. I also gained hands-on experience through work placements in kennels, which included caring for animals in the cattery—an aspect I found especially rewarding.

In addition to my academic and practical experience, I’ve spent many years caring for a wide variety of animals as a pet owner. This has involved feeding, providing fresh water, ensuring they remain mentally stimulated, and keeping them well looked after. I always make sure litter trays are clean and hygienic, and for outdoor cats, I ensure they are safely let out and brought back in as needed. I have experience working with nervous or shy cats and have developed a strong understanding of feline body language, which helps me respond appropriately and calmly in different situations. I love giving cats the attention they need, helping them feel safe, loved, and comfortable at all times.
