About Me

Zoology student - Nottingham cat carer

Hello, I’m Alex, a 3rd-year Zoology student based in Beeston. Cats have always been central to my life and inspired my career choice. I’ve been the primary carer for three cats and helped care for many others, so I’m experienced with feeding routines, litter maintenance, medication administration, basic first aid (including tick removal), grooming and providing enrichment tailored to each cat’s personality. I have a close bond with my elderly childhood cat (now 14) and have successfully raised two kittens from post-weaning age, one of whom I trained using positive food reinforcement. I’m in a place where I can’t have cats of my own, so I’m eager to borrow a few whiskers and purrs whenever I can!

I offer 10–60 minute cat-sitting visits tailored to each cat’s needs and personality. During visits I can handle day-to-day care like cleaning bowls and litter trays, freshening water, feeding on schedule, and providing enrichment (playtime or puzzle toys) to keep them happy and stimulated. I’m also happy to administer non-injectable, owner-provided medication and help with routine parasite care like worming and flea checks (I’ll only apply treatments if the owner supplies and instructs me). I also perform basic health-and-safety checks, tick checks, wound checks and general wellbeing observations, and I’ll report any sudden or unusual behavioural changes straight away. Due to experience and animal behaviour knowledge, I can work on carrier training and gentle handling to reduce stress or fears too. Reliable, patient and attentive, I’ll follow your instructions and contact you (or your vet) immediately if I have any concerns.
